OBITUARY.

AIR THOMAS MINGINS. There passed away at the Palmerston North Hospital on Monday afternoon, following ail illness, of several weeks’ duration; Mr Thomas Alingins, of Port Street, Feilding, at the age of 56 years. Air Alingins was born in Feilding, his father, the late Air Henry Alingins, having taken up the original section of the Alanchester Block in 1878, and many of the houses between Feilding and the YVanganui River were built by him.

For 25 years Air Thomas Alingins was employed by Alessrs Hodder and Tolley, Ltd., and the principals of that firm and his workmates held him in very high esteem. He was a member of the Alanchester Unity of Oddfellows for 37 years, and also a member of the Alanchester Rifles. Beyond these activities, he devoted his leisure hours in his home. Deceased was married in 1912, his wife being a daughter of the late Air and Airs Henry Penbertliy, of Newbury, and formerly of Afakino, where Air Penberthy conducted the first grocery store.” Besides his widow, Air Alingins leaves three sons and a daughter to mourn his passing, as well as two brothers, John and James Mingins, of Auckland. One brother (YVilliam) and two sisters, Alesdames David Reid and Morrison, predeceased him some years ago. The funeral took place yesterday, the service:* at the home and the cemetery being conducted by Rev. J. Allen. The pall-bearers at the residence were Messrs William, Alason, Hector, and Arthur Penbertliy, David Reid, and A. AlcNae, while at the cemetery members of the staff ot Alessrs Hodder and Tolly, Ltd., were the pall-bearers. A service was also conducted at the graveside by members of' the Oddfellows’ Lodge, Bro. E. A. Garlick officiating. The lengthy cortege and t’he wealth of fjoral tributes testified to the popularity and respect enjoyed by deceased. Airs Alingins and family desire to thank all kind friends for their sympathy and condolence during their bereavement, also those who sent wreaths, telegrams or letters, and all who attended the funeral. Special thanks are due to the doctors and nurses of the Palmerston North Hospital.
