HOCKEY.
FEILDING ASSOCIATION. The fortnightly meeting of the Feilding Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr E. A. Garlick presiding. Others present were Messrs A. Hendry, P. G. Guy. F. H. Rogers, T. Tricklebagk, R. Eade, A. H. Packer, L. Trass, W. Hocken and the secretary (Mr S. Chesterfield). Correspondence was received from the Feilding Borough Council regarding improvements to Victoria Park, and it was decided to reply as follows : The Hockey Association is prepared to spend on all improvements at Victoria Park, an amount not greater than £210; the sum of £6O set down to be spent by the council to he fully expended on this work, and the full cost of draining and terracing the hillside to he mot by the council at no further cost to the association. Tho park should be ready for play on March 1, 1938. , , A meeting of women players has been called to finalise the women s competition. _ ~ It was decided to apply tor a mntweek match against the All England women’s team which is being invited to tour New Zealand in 1938. The Feilding Jockey Club wrote franting permission to use the polo grounds for the King’s Birthday tourney, for which 23 women’s teams of 7-a-side and 39 men’s teams of 5-a-side are entered. Handsome cups for winners and runners up have been purchased. A special sealed tourney is to be decided on the same day for which also cups are to be given Women • players are requested (to attend at Oddfellows’ Hall on Triday at 8 p.m. to discuss important matters.
