MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
A short sitting ot' the Feilding Magistrate’s Court was held this morning, when a young man came before Messrs A. J. Kellow and A. J. Geary, J.P.’s, to answer two charges alleging theft and mischief. Accused, aged 23 years was described as a farm hand and lio was charged with (a) having stolen a man’s bicycle and wilfully damaging two window panes, valued at 4s 6d. On the first charge accused was convicted and admitted to probation for a year, and ordered to pay £l. On the second charge ho was also convicted and admitted to probation, for a similar period, on the special conditions that he reported monthly to the police at Feilding and that he made restitution of the sum of 4s 6d in such time as the probation officer thought fit. An order was made for the suppression of accused’s name.
