In the proficiency examinations held this week, high percentages of passes were established at the Lytton Street and Ataiiehester Street Schools, despite the fact that Air Elstone, who wa.s in charge of Standard 0 at Lytton Street School, was transferred at tho-eud ol the second term and was replaced by Air F. Thomas, while from the Manchester Street School Air D. Minogue was transferred. Air llobertshaw (headmaster) assuming control of Standard 6 during the last term. Thirty-four pupils sat for thro proficciicy certificate at Lytton Street and 23 gained liusses while 10 were awarded competency. At Alanchester Street, 28 pupiis passed and seven gained competency.
