SCHOOL LIBRARIES.

At a meeting of the Lytton Street School Committee, on Monday evening, the headmaster (Air C. A. Butt)., m his monthly report, requested that accommodation lor read.ng matter be provided in the school, in the discussion which followed. Air Ratt gave the opinion that something should be done to encourage reading, and he pointed out that the library was inadequate for the school’s requirements. Children to-day did not read sufficiently, ho said, due to the -fact that there were not sufficient books available in the one instance, and also because children outside school periods had 100 many other activities to engage their minds. The Alanchester Street School Committee, at its monthly meeting, set aside £4O for library books and hopes to increase the supply regularly, until a fully equipped library is established.
