LABOUR’S ATTITUDE.
PARTY NOT COMMITTED. REPEATED DENIAL. LONDON, Dec. 8. Mr C. R.. Attlee (Leader of the Opposition) informed the News-Chronicle: “The statement has been repeatedly made that Mr Attlee has in some way committed the Labour Party regarding the position concerning the King. It cannot bo stated over-emphatieally that he has on no occasion been asked to give any undertakings, nor has he offered any.” The Labour Party executive discussed the situation for two hours. A big majority opposed the King’s marriage and expressed the opinion that the country should be fully informed of the facts at the earliest possible opportunity. A full meeting of the party will be held to-day. Wide prominence is given in Americe to radio broadcasts from London bv Lord Ponsonby and Mr Wickham Steed. Lord Ponsonby stated that abdication would be the very worst solution. The will of Parliament must prevail. Mr Steed said that the King would win deeper gratitude and affection from his people if he y'ould subordinate personal interest From Kingston (Jamaica) it is reported that Mr Lloyd George is planning to interrupt his holiday and return to England because of the crisis.
