The first tennis match of the season was played on tlio Sanson court.-! to-day, when a team from Rongotea visited the local players. Tlio Sanson ladies fielded a full team, but owing- to seasonal work only two men were available. The results, which were very much in favour of Rongotea. were as follow, Rongotea players being mentioned nra ( —Women's singles : Miss G. Kadcs beat Miss Gwon Sanson, 6—4; Miss T. Eadcs beat Miss 1-. Lumsdcn, 6—3; Mrs Davidson beat Miss L. Gedye, 6—5; Miss Fyfo lost to Miss B. Lumsdcn, 3—6; Mrs Aird. beat Miss G. Adams, 6—2: Miss A. Buchanan lost, to Miss M. Butler, 2—6. "Women's doubles: Misses G. Kades and D. Kadcs beat G. Sanson and I. Lumsdcn, 6—l; Mr* Davidson and Miss Fyfe beat Misses L. Gedye and B. L-umsdcn, 6—2; Mrs Aird and" Miss Buchanan beat Misses G.
