WOODVIILE.
AYOODVILLE, Dec. 7
There was a good attendance at the final meeting of the year, of the Woodville Women's Institute, recently, at which' Mrs N. M. Burnett presided. Mrs L. Everden was welcomed as a new member. The Sunshine Committee reported that Mrs W. Galbraith was in hospital, and hopes were expressed for her speedy recovery. Miss Pederseu gave a demonstration on blocking, renovating and cleaning felt hats, which was followed with keen interest. Final arrangements were made for the children's Christmas party. The competition for the senior members was a. patch on damask, being won by Miss J. Kirkpatrick, while Miss Walthers and Miss M. Knapp won the junior prizes for best paper hats, these being of novel design. Mrs Boyd acted as judge. The remainder of the meeting was of a social nature. Mrs Hanlon and Kev. J. H. Boyd gave much pleasure with their songs. All the members joined heartily in singing Christmas carols. The trade stall was more than usually well laden with a fine assortment of useful and artistic articles. The good wishes of the president for a happy Christmas time, and a bright, useful New Year in institute work, were heartily reciprocated by the members. Mr and Mrs W. Elder (Hawera) are visiting Woodvillo. Mrs V. Carroll (Wellington) is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs G. "Walther (Woodville).
