GIRL GUIDES
BLEDISLOE CUP COMPETITION. The 193 G Bledisloe Cup competition for Hangers was judged recently by Miss Herrick and Miss McHardy with the following results: —Matai Roa Rangers (Auckland) 1; First Church Rangers (Invercargill). 2; 16th Linwood Rangers (Christchurch), 3. While there were not a great number of entries those that were sent in were particularly good. They showed a great deal of ingenuity, and much trouble had been taken with the work and the packing for exhibition. The entries included models representing "Our Chalet," "Adelboden Valley." and a map of the world with "Foxlease" as the centre. The most outstanding examples of ordinary objects put to an unusual use wore flags of sheh foundation with the coloured design of pressed flower petals, most realistic talc windows from the ra.ngiora leaves soaked in gum; trees from seaweed, thatched roof from kauri' leaves, sky made from paua shells and budgerigar feathers, wool representing smoke, kauri gum for glaciers, ground shell for snow and sea, and rangiora leaves which were used effectively for hillsides in foregrounds.
