WRESTLING.

McCREADY BEATS GEORGE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 6. The Auckland Town Hall was filled to capacity on Saturday night when Earl McCready, of Canada, and Ed. Don George, of America, met for the third time in New Zealand and McCready scored a popular victory by two falls to one. The first fall was obtained by George, in the second round. He had experienced much difficulty in escaping from a hammerlock, the ropes eventually affording him his release. He then hutted the Canadian with his head, doubling the latter up. George followed this with a succession of solid forearm jolts and ended his attack by lifting McCready for a slam and body press. McCready maintained a strong shortarm scissors for several minutes in the fifth round. The American eventually escaped, but was felled with a jolt, and then another severe application of the short-arm scissors enabled McCready to press his opponent’s shoulders to the mat. The six round proved one of the most thrilling ever seen, and a willing exchange of forearm jolting had the crowd thoroughly roused. Then the contestants slammed each other in turn. McCready appeared to be getting much the worse of matters but, after being thrown heavily to the mat, he suddenly caught his opponent unawares and rolled quickly over after a slam to pin George’s shoulders for til© deciding fall. MATCH AT SYDNEY. SYDNEY, Dec. 0. ’Wrestling at the Leichhardt Stadium ou Saturday night Joe AA’oods received a decision against George Penchcff. who was hurled through the ropes on top of spectators and was unable: to continue.
