(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAICI, . Deo, 4. A special meeting of the Otaki Borough Council was held last night. After a discussion it was decided to apply to tho Loans Board for a loan of £7500 in respect of the new theatre, and to point out that the council was working in conjunction with New Zealand Theatres, Ltd. J

Natives of Otaki, with a number of European friends, assembled at Raukawa last night for the purpose of bidding farewell fo Mr and Mrs J. Rockett and Mrs Agate, prior to their departure for Patea. Mr Puku Rikihana preskled. Mr. Rikihana presented Mrs Rockett with, a piupiu and Mr Rockett with a piece of greenstone. Mrs Agate was also presented with a suitable memento. The Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs j T. O’Rourke) will leave shortly for New Plymouth, where they will spend a holi-
