SOUTHERN HORSES ARRIVE

LLOYD’S TEAM AT WOODVILLE. The Riccarton mentor, T. Lloyd, who formerly trained at Woodville, has arrived nt that centre with a team comprising Tout lo Monde, In the Dark, Invoice, and Private Bunsby who will race in tiie Mona watu district during tire holidays. Other visiting- horses located at Woodville at present include the Hawke's Bay quartette Lord Hereford, En Vidctte, Mata llnri, and Wcrohia. On Saturday morning there was some interesting work at Woodville, gallops en tho course proper taking place with the flags out about 24 feet. The Derby candidate Mandamus (Gilmore) occupied 1.20.) for bis six furlongs. Rod Manfred (Cnvnney), who is a freer goer than Mandamus, covered a similar journey, in 1.18. The Wailway Handicap fancy. Plato (Gilmore) slipped over half a mile in 49 2-5 sec, an attractive effort. Karl (Cavanev) ran his five furlongs in 1.4). Werohia (Stowe) ran a mile in 1.55) after a slow beginning. He will bo ridden at Woodville by B. 11. Morris and will probably contest the Auckland Cup instead of the Mnnawatu Cup, in which he ran second last year. Appendage (Cavaney) sprinted half a mile in 50 2-ssee. Lord Hereford worked well over 6ix furlongs. He may decline his engagement in the hurdles race at Woodville ou Thursday in favour of his stablemato Tahoma, who t\as expected to arrive at Woodville over the week-end with the Tidal maiden Nereus. Blue Tiger, who will be ridden on Thursday by C. McGovern, worked well on the plough, appearing to have made a good recovery from the injury lie received at Trcntham. Francis Drake (Gilmore) finished half a length ahead of Aiwai (Cavaney) over five furlongs in 1.5. Both are to race ut Ellerslie where W. Broughton will ride Francis Drake, Red Manfred, and Plato, and P. Atkins will probably have tho mounts on Mandamus, llaut Monde, Relative, and Aiwai. Mata I lari (Lord) ran the last five of her six furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Tout lc Monde headed Invoice over half a mile in 53 l-ssec. In file Dark (by Nightmarch) and Private Bunsby (Captain Bunsby—Toiling Tcssic) did pacework. En Videtto (Lord) ran six furlongs in 1.20 1-5, tbe last five in 1.6. Thala (Cavaney) !>eat Brown Oak (Gilmore) over three furlongs run smartly in 37 3-ssec. Full Throttle (Tracy) finished strongly over a mile in 1.47 1-5. The South Island lightweight jockey C. T. Wilson will ride Tout lo Monde, Invoice, In the Dark and Private Bunsby in their engagements at Woodville.
