(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Nov. 27. METHODIST GUILD. The monthly, meeting of tile Methodist Church Guild was held in the home of Mrs J. Jensen. There were present: Mesdames it. Coombridgo (president), J. Jeusen, J. Mupson, \V. R. Pratt, and Miss G. Digby (secretary). The recent social was reported as being a financial success, An amusing competition was won by Mrs J Jensen. A short chapter from James Neil’s book, “Everyday Lite in the Holy Land,” was read by Mrs Jensen. This was most interesting, al) d the subject was “Olivo Trees.” Afternoon tea and talk of future activities concluded a pleasant afternoon. Thanks were extended to Mrs Jenson for her hospitality. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. The competitions for next week’s meeting of the Women’s Instituto will be;.— Cookery Chocolate sponge; handwork, lcettleholder; flowers, best three roses. The last competition lias boon altered from best collection of six as it was felt that some might feel debarred from competing, because they did not have six different varieties. The competition steward will be Mrs G Watkins and the hostesses Mesdamos II Jenßen, J. Mapson, Misses M. and S.' Malone. NOTES. Rev. R. Coombridge lias returned from Hastings. . . , Much dissatisfaction is felt with the untidy, rank, and overgrown appearance of the roadsides. Many feel that if the roads were closed only from dusk to daylight, some of this wasting feed might be made use of, without undue harm to motorists.
