PRESTON SEAT. LONDON, Nov. 26. The Preston by-election due to the appointment of Mr W. M. Kirkpatrick as representative of the Exports Credits Department in China, resulted : Captain E. C. Cobb (Conservative) 32,575 F. G. Bowles (Labour) 30,970 Miss F. White (Independent, supporting spinsters’ pensions) ... 3,221 Majority for Cobb 1,605 The voting at the last general election for the two Preston seats was: A. C. Moreing (Con.), 37,219; W. M. Kirkpatrick (Con.), 36,797; Dr R. A. Lyster (Lab.), 32,225; it. L. lleisa (Lab.), 31,827.
