(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Nov. 20. Members ot the Ashhurst Defence Rifle Club tired a further practice shoot over ranges of 300 and 500 yards. The best effort at 300 yards was a 34 by M. Hauslnann, while J. Scarlo put all his shots into the builscyo for a nice possible.. Detailed scores arc as follow: M. Hausniann, 34—32—66; J. Hargreaves, 28—31 —59; J. Gritfitlis, 28—28—56; .T. Hodrcn, 22—30—52; F. Bassett, 24—27—51; R. Doreen, 24—23 —47. A very well attended meeting cf the Mothers’ Union was held on Wednesday. Prior to this meeting an admission service was held in the St. Mary Magdalene Church, which was conducted by Rev. 11. B. Goertz, and three new members were admitted, these being Mcsdamcs Woodroofc, Hewitt and McDoncll. At the Parish Hall, Rev. C. A. Foston gave a very interesting address on the life of Dorcas, a Biblical character, and at the conclusion Mr Goertz thanked Mr boston for his talk. Mrs Fox was welcomed home again after her illness in hospital; during her absence her ,secretarial work was carried cut by Mrs Davis. , Mrs Goertz, who occupied- the chair, extended thanks to those, present. Afternoon tea was partaken of. . Favourable weather was experienced for the Tennis Club’s opening this week. A good number were present. The president extended a welcome to all, with the hope of a very successful season.
