YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Considerably more activity was shown in tho Wellington stock and share markets yesterday and trading was much brisker than had been the case during the previous week. A substantial turnover was recorded. Prices were generally steady at about late rates, any fluctuations in quotations being comparatively small. There was a fairly good demand tor brewery and timber issues, hut interest in other industrial and trading issues was less pronounced. Union Steam preference were marked fourpence better at 26s 4d, holders asking 26s Bd. P. and 0. deferred stock improved to 31s lOd, hut tliero were no sellers, Kauri Timber firmed to 24s 4d, sellers 255, Carlton Brewery rose to 61s, no sellers. YESTERDA Y’S QUOTATIONS.
