VALUED AT £56,000.
SHIPMENT OF RABBIT SKINS. DUNEDIN. July 13. Claimed to be a record shipment, 2SB bales of rabbit skins were transferred from a local store to the wharf for loading on the Canadian Cruiser. The skins are consigned to New York buyers, and are valued at nearly £56,000. Twenty-one motor, electric, and horse-drawn lorries were requisitioned for the purpose of transporting the consignment to the ship’s side, and this procession made an imposing sight a sit moved along the streets. Rabbiters have been obtaining good prices this winter, up to 2s Cd a skin being received.
