(From Our Own Correspondent.) MAKIXO, July 13.

The fortnightly cuclirc and dance was hold recently when there was a very good attendance. The prizes were won as follow: —Ladies’ Ist, Mrs Wilton; settled, Mrs Malone; men’s Ist, Mr IV. Reid; consolation, Mr R. Hills. The next euchre and dance has been postponed owing to the Hall Committee having decided to entertain with a concert and dance this week. The concert programme is being arranged by Mr Cronin and party, of Palmerston North. Members of the Hall Committee have been busy recently carrying out further improvements to the hall. The new portion is being match-lined, while a new door, to improve the entrance facilities, has been made.

Mrs J. Amor has returned after having spent a holiday with her daughter, Mrs I'. Mends, of Huntcrville. Mr and Mrs 1\ 1?. Simpson and their son, lan, have returned from an extended motor tour of the North Island. Mr L. Bellve, of Tauranga, is -at present the guest of his sister, Mrs IP. O’Donnelly.

A ping pong match was played on Thursday evening between the Aorangi and Alakino Hall Clubs. The A teams played at Aorangi, while the B match took place at Alakino.
