The following players will journey to To Arakura on Tuesday evening to play a jiing pong match: —Miss C. Vautier, K. Woodd, E. Hornibrook, 13. BaLnbridgc, W. Vautier, Miss E. Vautier._ Miss M. Vuutier is staying with Mr and Mrs I’. Vautier. Wellington. Miss 11. Wells has returned to I’ungarehu, Taranaki.

Mr >S. Oxcnham spent tho week-end in Wellington. Mr and Mrs Wilson havo returned from Wellington where they visited their daughter Miri who is an inmate o{ the hospital. With the cold weather sickness has visited tho district bringing influenza and colds. On Friday afternoon a team of schoolboys met Aslihurst in the first football match played for some years. Tho school representatives were: Albert McCool (captain), Nelson Wood, Bert Young, Lloyd Ranford, Lou Lacey, Leslie Ireland, Ken Smith, Ken Puklowski, Ted Hodgson and Trevor Lawrence. The Ashhurst team had the advantage in weight, but nevertheless a good game resulted, played in excellent spirit. The local troys did not settle down until the second half, when they put up a better fight, only one try being scored against them in that spell. For Ashhurst, tries wero scored by W. Hill (4), Wycherley, Murphy and Wilton one each. King converted two. For Whakarongo, K. Smith scored a well-merited try and T. Lawrence converted it, making tho score 23—5. Mr F. Eagle was the referee. Several local ladies took charge of the afternoon tea. The visiting captain, W. King, thanked the local bovs for on enjoyable game, and tho ladies for refreshments, A. McCool replied on behalf of his team. There were many interested onlookers. Tt is hoped to take a team of boys and a basketball team to Ashhurst on July 24. On the 17th inst., tho girls will play basketball against a team from Bunnythorpe, and thev are anticipating a good game. Mr W. McMurray is homo from hospital and is now convalescent. Mr Andrew McMurray has l oturnod after having spent a fortnight touring in the north. After five weeks in hospital. Mrs J. Hodgson is home again. Mrs G. Shannon and Miss E. Kyle havo returned from visiting Wellington. Mr Clarence Puklowski has loft for . the Wairarapa whore ho will stay for a time.
