BASKETBALL.

I Representative games were played at Levin on Saturday between Manawatu and Horowhemm. The teams were:— Manawatu A.—P. Payne (captain), J. Clevely, Joyce Winiata, M. Reid, 1). Young, 13. Mason, M. Waldegrave, M. Harvey, N. Milverton. Ilorowhenua A.—E. McDonald (captain), L. Jvarauti, 1. l'ogden, J. 4 Jacobs, J. Butt, B. Thomson, J. Swensson. N. O’Donnell, C. Jacobs. Prom the throw-off tlic game was last and of a high standard of play, both teams maintaining the speed throughout the game. Slightly superior goaling by the heme team resulted in the half-time score being: Morowhcnua 15, Manawatu 12. Horowlienua were also stronger in tlio defence than Manawatu, and though the Manawatu centres were effective in getting the ball through to their forward line, the Horowlienua defenders prevented their opponents from any easy scoring.
