BASKETBALL.
I Representative games were played at Levin on Saturday between Manawatu and Horowhemm. The teams were:— Manawatu A.—P. Payne (captain), J. Clevely, Joyce Winiata, M. Reid, 1). Young, 13. Mason, M. Waldegrave, M. Harvey, N. Milverton. Ilorowhenua A.—E. McDonald (captain), L. Jvarauti, 1. l'ogden, J. 4 Jacobs, J. Butt, B. Thomson, J. Swensson. N. O’Donnell, C. Jacobs. Prom the throw-off tlic game was last and of a high standard of play, both teams maintaining the speed throughout the game. Slightly superior goaling by the heme team resulted in the half-time score being: Morowhcnua 15, Manawatu 12. Horowlienua were also stronger in tlio defence than Manawatu, and though the Manawatu centres were effective in getting the ball through to their forward line, the Horowlienua defenders prevented their opponents from any easy scoring. The final score resulted: Horowlienua 21, Manawatu 20. Goals were scored as follow:—1'or Manawatu: P- Payne*l2, J. Winiata 7, J. Clevely 1. For Horowlienua: E. MacDonald ID, L. Karauti 4, T. Eogden 1. Manawatu 13.—N. Terry, 13. Hansen E. Skinner, 13. Russell, It. Simpson, G. Wattereus,’ A. Clarke, V. Hancock, P. Gadogan. Horowlienua B.—M. Johnston, J. Itovdhouse, M. Milroy, E. Elutev, V. Taylor, M. Driffill, L. Carson, B. Bleukhorn, K. Johnston. In this game a lso the Horowlienua defence was superior to that of Manawatu. Halftime scores were: Horowlienua 10, Manawatu 7, and the final _ scores: Horowlienua 21, Manawatu 15. Goals were scored ns follow: —-For Horowhonua: M. Johnston 11, J- Hoydhou.se 7, M. Milroy J. For Manawatu: N. Terry 8, B. Hansen 4, 32. Skinner 3. LOCAL GAMES. There' were only two games played on Saturday at the Teehniiil Sc ho A grounds, Grey Street, _'botn matches being 13 grade ones. Citiwis A bear Technical D, 23-0. and B-nnythorpe beat Citizenu B, 12—2. Technical G won by default against Technical Obi Girls B. The referees were Muses J. Rennie and .Hastings.
