Crawford came across smartly to stop a. rush and kick the hell into Dawick’s arms. The St. Patrick’s winger raced straight for the line, and short-punted when blocked but Crawford was there again to clear, and prevented a try. Kia Toa got into a tight corner when Carr was caught in possession, but McKenzie burst out of the ruck right- on the line and found touch. Barnao received the ball to make a strong run up the line, but was pushed out right in the corner, and a penalty kick brought relief to St. Patrick’s just before the interval. M. Gillespie, for St. Patrick’s, and Barnao, for Kia Toa-, l>otli made dangerous runs when play was resumed. Brinsden was responsible for a brilliant cut-in when, getting possession from a serum in midfield, he was through like a flash to l>eat_tlie opposition and hand on to R. Gillespie, to M Gillespie, for the latter to complete behind the posts. Powell converted and placed *St. Patrick s one point in front. Barnao made two bold bids for the line, but was pulled down each time. Brinsden made another spectacular cut-in, /but found the ground too slippery for him to sidestep the full-back, and his pass went unaccepted. Powell failed with a longrange penalty kick, but Hallamore got awav up the line to dispatch Dawick, the'winger sliding over in the corner as he was tackled. Powell’s kick missed McKenzie started a Kia Toa rush near the St. Patrick’s line when he flung the ball out to Crawford, and the forwards carried on for Greatorex to cross in the corner. Carr faded to add the major points. Ivia Toa had St. Patrick’s hard pressed after McKenzie had again secured possession, forcing his way almost to the line before lie was brought down.
