MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Mr J. L. Stout, rj S.M., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning. Sidney Jones, painter, 37 years of age, was charged with obtaining credit by fraud—taxi hire to the amount of Bs—from Erie Doull. He pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant Moriarty said that accused called the taxi an 1 d'ove about town to various places. He then desired to be taken to Huntcrville, but the taxi-driver had become suspicious and asked for the fa e. Jones had 9s in his pockets when arrested and could have paid the debt lie bad incurred, but refused to do so.
The Magistrate said that ff accused could afford to run about in taxis lie would have- to pay. .He was convicted and ordered to pay the amount of the fare.
