FOOT-ROT IN SHEEP.

EXPERIENCE IN MANAWATU. When enquiries were made at the Palmerston North branch of the Department of Agriculture in regard to tlie incidence of foot-rot among sheep in the Manawatu area, a “Standard” reporter was informed that it had been experienced all through the district, not in an epidemic form, hut only in minor cases. As in other districts the visitation had been brought about by the wet summer and autumn, and the particularly abundant growth of loed in the autumn and early winter. It was generally recognised by sheepfarmers that foot-rot was much more prevalent under those conditions and where they were confronted with such a position they paid special precautions to the feet, cutting away all loose and disease/ horn, and putting the sheep throu/h a foot-bath such as a Milestone solution or an arsenical din’bath. The result of such precautions lias been shown in the lessening of the trouble.
