LABOUR TROUBLES.
THE FRENCH BILLS.. Received June 17, 2.10 p.m. PARIS, June 16. The Senate has begun the debate on M. Blum’s strike Bills, which are estimated to entail an expenditure of £18,600,000 a year. M. Jouhaux, general secretary of the Trades Union Council, declares that French Labour made up 20 years’ leeway in one night, namely, June 7. The union membership is now 2,600,000. The cojlective agreement affects seven million wage-earn-ers, of whom 80 per cent, were previously ignorant of union organisation, necessitating extensive tutelage. Thirty-two thousand of the 00,000 still idle in Paris occupy department stores and one-price shops. inc employees of insurance companies, perruiniers, and leather goods houses are expected to resume work to-morrow. The strike trouble is extending to Brittany.
