BIGGER FAMILIES
STATE AID IN GERMANY.
(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received June 17, 1.6 p.m. BERLIN, June 16. Seeking to stimulate the birthrate, Herr Reinhardt, of the Finance Ministry, announces State grants of ten marks monthly for the fifth and every additional child under 16 years of families whose income does not exceed 185 marks monthly. It is estimated that 400,000 children are involved, costing 48,000,000 marks a year. This scheme will operate from July and will supplement the system of non-recurrent grants for large families which has hitherto cost 75,000,000 marks. Six hundred thousand loans, totalling 340,000.000 marks, have been made to assist couples to marry.
