CARD PARTY.
As a result of a card afternoon, held at the residence of Mrs C. King, Fitzherbert Avenue, yesterday, the levy ot the local Girl Guides will almost be covered. Mrs King was an entertaining hostess, and was assisted by Mrs R. Chisholm. A happy time was spent by the card players, over 14 tables being occupied. . The prizes, which had been provided by Mrs King and members of the executive were won as follow : —Contract bridge, Mrs W. G. Rutherfurd ; auction bridge, Mrs D’Afh and Mi6s M. War re n ; hidden number, Miss "Warren ; euchre, Miss Bloomfield; COO, Mrs Jensen. . Afternoon tea was served in three rooms which presented a charming, appearance. Iceland poppies and orchids, in a predominating tone of orange, were artistically arranged. Before the players dispersed Mrs King thanked them for coming. Mrs G A. Elliot, District Commissioner, thanked Mrs King for placing her home at the disposal of the Girl Guide executive and for what she had done to make the party so enjoyable. The arrangements were undertaken by Miss Warren and Mrs J- H. Whyte.
