DAIRY FACTORIES.
EXEMPTION FROM LEGISLATION. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, May 14. The Factories Act Amendment Bill, which is in the Committee stage in the House of Representatives, will eventually include a new clause, introduced by the Minister of Labour, dealing with creameries and dairy factories. He proposes to add sub-clauses providing that the six-day week shall not apply with respect to any dairy factory or creamery in which not more than two workers are regularly employed. Any worker who is employed on more tiu.ii six days m any week in or about any dairy factory or creamery shall be entitled to a whole holiday for every additional day on which he has been so employed, or, in lieu of allowing the worker any such holiday, the occupier may in addition to the ordinary wages pay him at the ordinary rate for any additional day on which he has been so employed. All holidays to which the worker becomes entitled shall be given not later than one month after the close of the season.
