SECRETARIES’ CUP MATCH.
At the Hokowhitu course on Wednesday the first of the series of inter-chib matches for the Secretaries’ Cup was played, resulting in a win for Manawatu from Palmeston North by tho narrow margin of three points. Palmerston North, however, beat their oppents on the medal handicap of the match, their nett aggregate being better than that of the Manawatu players. The final tally of points showed that Manawatu had registered 53 to Palmerston North’s 50. The course was j in splendid order. I Following are the results, with Manawatu players mentioned first: —! A. Graham (75) heat Walsh (80) match j play and medal, gaining 8 points; Cornwall (84) lost to Bott (82) both ways, Bott 8 points; Snell (81)_ beat De Clleene (88) both ways, getting 8 points; Colson (82) lost to Voss (75) both ways, Voss S points; McKenzie (92) lost to E. Simpson (81) both ways, Simpson 8 points; Fairey (84) beat H. Bennett (83) match, but lost medal, 5 points Fairey, 3 points Bennett; Goldfinch (81) beat Looney (90) both ways, 8 points; W. Millar (84) beat Cook (89) both ways, 8 points; Hansel (88) lost to Harkness (77) both ways, Harkness 8 points; Higgins (80) beat Berryman (85) both ways, 8 points; Anstis (87) lost to T. Simpson (79) both ways, Simpson 8 points; J. Millar (89) beat Selwyn (93) both ways, 8 points. ' Total points.—Match play : Manawatu 35. Palmerston North 25.
