PERSONAL.
Rev. H. L. Richards, who has been the minister of the Cuba Street Methodist Church for the past three years, and who has been appointed to the Waimate circuit, left Palmerston North for the south to-day, accompanied by Mrs Richards and family.
Rev. W. G. Slade and Mrs Slade, of Levin, were tendered a social by the members of the Methodist Church this week in view of their impending departure for Wellington East. Mr Slade has been a resident of Levin for five years. Several presentations were made at the gathering. To recognise publicly the 24 years’ service to Wanganui of Mr W. A. Veitch and Mrs Veit.ch, a representative gathering of citizens met yesterday afternoon, and presented them with a substantially rilled wallet. Mr Veitch represented Wanganui in Parliament from 1911 to 1935. For 22 years lie was employed in the railway service, achieving the distinction of rising from the position of enginedriver to Minister of Railways, in the Forbes Government of 1930-31.
