J. Chaplin. —Waitohu. It is probable that W. J. Brough; ton will side Senior in the Awapuni Cup. There is still speculation regarding the intentions of the connections of Silver Ring who, though accepted for in the Awapuni Cup, is tentatively booked to be shipped to Sydney the same day. He will bo nominated for all weight-for-age races there, the first being due on April 4. International, who is engaged m the Autumn Plate (maiden conditions) at the Alanawatu meeting, surprised track watchers at Hawora this week by finishing half a longtli in front of Notium over half a mile in 52) sec. It was International’s best effort to date despite the fact that Notium did not go as well as usual. Though still inclined to gallop greenly, Sylvan us, who figures in the field for the same event covered hve furlongs smartly in 1.5 4-5 the other morning.

At the adjourned inquiry Into the tall of Gay Chief on the opening day, tne judicial stwards found that the nushap w s caused by careless riding .on the part oi P Atkins (on Alandamus) in coining m too quickly. Atkins was suspended for three months, the ponalty to operate from afte the ruAning of the Plunkot Nursery race to-day.
