FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

COURT MANAWATU. The quarterly meeting of Court Manaawtu, A.0.F., was held in the lodge room on Monday, Bro. R. Jones, C.R., presiding over a large attendance of members. Hie Woodwards reported 19 members on tlie funds of the Court. Correspondence was received from Bro. Travers, Dr. Barnett, Bro. Levy, Court Sir George Bowen, Bro. Downes, Bro. Mudgway, the secretary of the H.A.C.B. Society, and the secretary of the Church of England Men’s Society; also relatives of the late Mr C. E. Denipsy A motion of sympathy was carried in silence with the friends of Bro. J. T. Follas. One new member was initiated into the order by the C.lt., assisted by P.C.R. Bro. Freeman. Apologies were received from Bros. D. Reid and Burgess for non-attendance. Bro. Prentice was nominated as J.B. in place of Bro. Lord, P.C.R., who resigned the position as he desired to see the new members take more interest in tlie Court workings. P.C.R.’s Bro. Burns and Rosanoski acted as installing officers. It was resolved that a vote of thanks be accorded Bro. Lord who had acted as J.B. for some time past. The difficulty of being unable to see sick members wlio were inmates of tlie Hospital was pointed out by. the Woodwards, owing to the reduced visiting hours, and it was decided to write to tlie Hospital Association pointing out the position. Bro. E. ILolgerson was appointed delegate to th 6 annual district meeting at Wellington. Refreshments were served, after which the usual game of bowls was played.
