CARNARVON.
(From Our Owe Correspondent.) CARNARVON, Sept. 24. A very pleasant afternoon was spent in the local hall on Tuesday when a public farewell was tendered to Mr and Mrs Newport and Misses Newport. A large number were present, testifying to the popularity of the guests. '1 he time was passed hi games and competitions. The jumbled names competition was won by Miss I. Scott, the “pig tail” by Mrs Gibbons and a musical parcel by Miss Marjory Quinlan. Mrs Will, on behalf of the institute, presented Mrs Newport with a fruit bowl and Misses Newport with a dainty cup and saucer each. Mrs Ncwr port feelingly replied. Mrs P. Scott, on behalf of the residents of the district, presented Mr and Mrs Newport with a tea set and Misses Newport with a vaso each. In doing so she referred to the many good qualities of the guests and said that they would be missed very rnucti.
