RANGITIKEI.
MARION, Sept. 26. A team qf lady golfers from the Castlecliff club visited Marton on Wednesday and took part in a game with the Hawkestone ladies. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea. The Hawkestone team won b,y 10 games to 1. The following are the results of the Trinity College of Music, London, local examinations for the pianoforte, held in Marton on September 23 by Mr C. H. Adolph Mann, visiting examiner:— Licentiate diploma: Joan Howie (Mrs Bewick, A.T.C.L., R.M.T.) 72, Junior division: Edith Scott (Miss Mountfort, A.T.C.L., R.M.T., M.T.A.N.Z.) 78. Examiner’s remarks: Miss Edith Scott’s work was most commendable. Arbor Hay was celebrated with full ceremony at the Marton .District High School yesterday. Mrs A. D. Emmerson, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs G. W. Brown, Signal Street, for several months, left yesterday on her return to Dunedin. Miss Belinda Bright, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs Edward Smith, Queen Street.
