WOODVILLE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE, Sept. 25.
The Hawke’s Bay Education Board has recommended that Air Walter W. I<ossette be appointed headmaster of tbe Woodville District High School to fill the vacancy caused bv the transfer to the Auckland district of Mr G. W. Slane at the end of last term. The new appointment will take effect from February 1. All' Fossettc, who is a highly graded teacher, is at present headmaster of the Norsewood District High School. The district queen carnival, which has been running for the past six weeks, concluded at noon to-day, the votes recorded being:—-Hopelands (Aliss AY. Smith, 21,234, 1: Otawhao (Airs W. Smyth), 18,844, 2; Kumeroa (Aliss D. Last), 14,829, 3. The result of the carnival is that £2„O has been collected for the Kumeroa hull improvement fund.
