POLICE EXAMINATIONS.
Police examinations are now in progress throughout New Zealand. constables and detectives who are desirous of improving their jiositions undergoiug the examination to qualify for the ranks of sergeant, senior-sergeant and inspector. Candidates must have had seven years’ service before they are eligible to sit the examinations, which include papers on police and detective duties, statute law, evidence, the Police Force Act and regulations, and literary subjects. If desired, the candidates can sit for the sub-inspector’s examination without first qualiiying for the lower ranks. The local examinees aie stables E- H. Compton and W R. Miller (legal subjects) and Constab es i . K- H Alsop. A. JL Collinge and H. Shields (literary subjects).
