CONTROL OF NOXIOUS WEEDS.
AYIDER POAVERS SUGGESTED. The subject of noxious weeds was discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the Wellington central provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union, held at Alarton, when Air L. Lambert proposed that where county councils have taken over the administration of the Noxious Weeds Act they should also be given the power to control weeds growing in townships within the area of the county. He stated that, while .the counties might be ready to act and do the job expected of them, the work was often impaired by the inabilitv to enforce tlie provisions of tlie Act in townships within the county area. It was necessary to tackle the menace thoroughly and unless the power was extended 'no satisfactory result would follow. The motion was supported bv Air Fannin, of Tailiape, and carried.
