The Dannevirke Electric Power Board met to-day, Mr M. 0. Grainger presiding. Advice was received from tlie Danncvirke County Council that Mr W. Jenkins (Norsewood) had been appointed to the county vacancy on the board. Tbe chairman extended a cordial welcome to Mr Jenkins. In reply, Air Jenlnns thanked the chairman for bis kindly remarks. The chairman also congratulated Mr H. Fredrickson on bis success in tbe recent county, by-election. Air Fredrickson suitably replied. A letter was read from tire Dannevirke Borough Council enquiring the cost per year for livening the coloured street streamers at Christinas and New Year for a term of three years. The secretary (ATr T. TJ Pickard) said the hoard in the past had made a charge of £7 12s a year. The chairman: 1 think we should offer to renew the agreement at the present rate, which, as board members know, does not pay the board. Air C. J. Hansard moved in that direction. Tbe motion was seconded by Air .T. Elder, and carried. It was also agreed to offer the Woodville Borough Council a renewal of their contract on the basis of the existing terms. In reply to Air Horne, the chairman said the board had an ample supplv of streamers for both boroughs. The engineer (ATr F. 0. Devlin), in his report, gave tbe number of consumers, together with the number for tbe corresponding month last year, as follows: Dannevirke borough, 1066 C 015); Dannevirke county 923 (887’); Woodville borounh 321 (31.3)Woodville County 389 (381). The extra loading included the following: Seven water heaters, one electric range, five milking motors, five commercial motors, two shearing motors, seven separator motors, and 81 meters were erected and 108 tested.
A five-year-old girl, Rhetta Davis, daughter of Air and Airs A. S. Davis, of AlePhee Street, sustained a fractured thigh yesterday through slipping on the floor. She was admitted to hospital. Air L. J. Skerman, who underwent a serious operation in a private hospital in Wellington sonic weeks ago, has sufficiently recovered to be able to return to his home at Kopua. He was accompanied by Airs Skerman, who lias been on an extended visit to friends in Wellington. Airs J. Alathieson, of Piri Piri, ■ who lias been on a visit to her daughter, Airs Mrytle Fraser, Ballarat, Australia, returned to her home recently, and was met at her house by a party of friends of Piri Piri and district and given a warm welcome.
