ENGLISH TOURNAMENT. RYDER CUP PLAYERS. Received September 13, 12.5 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 12. The Ryder Cup playws, Fadgham and Alliss, will fight out the final of the News of the World golf tournament to-morrow. Padgham in tire semi-final beat 11. Whitcombe, 4 and 3. Alliss beat Burton, one up, after beating Perry, the open champion, 4 and 3, in the fourth round owing to better putting. Padgham also eliminated C. Whitcombe in the second round at the nineteenth hole after a terrific duel. AMERICAN TOURNEY.
CLEVELAND, Sept. 11. Lawson Little increased his record of consecutive victories in tournament play to 27 to-day when he defeated Young 5 and 3 and Diegel 5 and 3, in the amateur championship of the United States. Among the prominent players defeated to day was Ross Summerville (Canada), who was beaten by Emery, 1 up. VICTORIAN TITLE. MELBOURNE, Sept. 12. In the final of the Victorian amateur golf championship to-day Harry Williams, the title-holder, won after a keen struggle with Alex King, by 2 and 1. AIISS BARTON’S RECORD. CANBERRA, Sept. 12. The British women visitors triumphed in the Federal Capital Territory associates’ golf championship, filling the first four places. Aliss Pam Bartoil was the winner with an aggregate of 151. She completed the second round to-day in 71, beating Aliss Anderson’s record of yesterday by eight strokes. Miss Barton’s outward round to-day of 34, including six birdies, was lour under par. She came home in a par 37. The British players’ scores were: Miss Barton, 80 —71 —151; Aliss Anderson 79 —76 —155; Airs AVaiker, 82—81 —163; Aliss AVade, 84—86—170.
