PROMISED LEGISLATION.
POWER BOARDS’ CONFERENCE. COMMENT BY PRESIDENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. Regret at the failure of the Government to introduce any legislation giving effect to remits carried at past conferences of the Electric-Power Boards’ and Supply Authorities’ Association of New Zealand was expressed today by Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., in his presidential report at the annual conference of the association. He said that the Minister of Public Works (Hon. J. Bitchener) had, however, informed the executive that draft legislation affecting electrical supply had been prepared, and if it were possible, would be introduced this session. “The draft legislation referred to includes the Public Works Amendment Bill, an Electric-Power Boards Amendment Bill and an Electrical Appliances Bill,” said Mr Nash. “A further provision dealing with the subject of superannuation has been drafted by the department, but has not yet been considered by the law draftsman. As, however, the session will be a short one in view of the coming general election, there may he some difficulty in obtaining all tlie promised legislation this year.”
