DAIRY FARMER IN LUCK. A LAST MINUTE PURCHASE. Per Press Association. . WAIMATE, Sept. 11. The winner of the first prize of £2OOO in the “Happy Thought” art union was Mr Alfred Hawke, a married man, aged 42, with a daughter aged nine. He is a dairy fa liner occupying 30 acres, and a returned soldier. At first ho was unable to believe his good fortune, and stated the money would be acceptable. Ho had had a hard road to travel, and intends to use the money to pay off his farm. ' The ticket was purchased at the last moment, and was probably the last sold in Waimate.
