ALL SAINTS’ MEN’S CLUB.

A large number of members attended last night’s function of All Saints’ Men’s Club. Mr J. lb. Harwood was chairman and apologies for absence were received from Rev. Canon "Woodward, Mr AVhitehonse and Mr Cross. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr W. J. Tucker and family in the death of Mrs Tucker, reference, being made to her untiring work in the Church. The speaker was Major J. T. Bosworth, who took for his theme “Humorous Incidents in Military Life,” The speaker, who was an officer in one of the early contingents for South Africa, dealt with many items of interest and amusement in the Boer War and also incidents in New Zealand. He kept his audience in attentive mood and all enjoyed the story unfolded. Major Bosworth was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Tho secretary made reference to forthcoming events concerned with the diamond jubilee of the Church. The next meeting is to he a reunion of past and present members of the club. It was also mentioned that all members were invited to be guests at the St. Andrew’s Men’s Club gathering on September 24. A social game of cards and clvat followed and supper was dispensed by the stewards (Messrs Inglis and King). The Renwick Cup changed hands, the challengers (Messrs Nicholls and Williams) beating the holders (Messrs Smith and Leader).
