POULTRY INTERESTS
UNREGISTERED RUNS. Registration, of fowl runs where there are more than 25 fowls kept was a matter discussed by a meeting of the Palmerston North branch ot the New Zealand Poultry Producers’ Association, last evening. It was pointed out that tho Poultry Board had asked that all such runs he registered to comply with the Act and had also asked for the assistance and co-opera-tion of all branches of the federation to endeavour to more effectively enforce tho provisions of the Act. The following resolution was passed: “That this meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand Poultry Producers’ Federation strongly urges the New Zealand Poultry ftoard to prosecute occupiers of poultry runs who fail to register within the specified time.” It was pointed out that the hoard had no desire to penalise those who through ignorance or carelessness had overlooked making the formal registration, but at the sarao time they did [ not want to use the producers’ money by appointing inspectors to enforce re--1 gistration. The members of the local branches have been asked in their own interests to report anyone in their locality whose name did not appear on the lists supplied, and to ask them to register immediately. It was stated that unless they did so the hoard would take action against them. An interesting address was given by Mr R. Abraham on tho “Marketing of Poultry Foodstuffs. The policy of the branch is to hold educational evenings in addition to the usual business of the branch, and it is hoped that the Chief. Poultry Inspector of the Department of Agriculture (Mr G. Cussen) will be present at the next meeting.
