DEPARTMENTS AT PLAY.
A n inter-departmental Rugby match between teams drawn from the Public Trust and the other sections of the Government service (combined) was plaved at the Showgrounds yesterday and resulted in a well merited win for the latter combination by eight points °ln the opening spell Public Trust bad the better of the exchanges, but the only contribution forthcoming was a try to Kilpatrick. O’Keefe made a good attempt to add the major points, but the hall struck the upright to rebound. After a welcome interval the teams re-entered the arena, the blues having the advantage of the wind and they quickly piled to the attack. Although repelled, a later rush saw Comerford granted n score. Davidson added the major points to give Combined Departments the lead. 11l the closing moments Combined Departments went further ahead when Meech completed after the blue forwards had forced a breach in the defences. Public Trust made valiant efforts to save the day, hut they found the play go against them: Combined 8, Public Trust 3. Mr A. Weston was the referee.
