TE ARAKURA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TE ARAKURA, June 23. On Thursday evening a team from the Te Arakura Table Tennis Club journeyed to Aorangi and played a friendly match against a team of ten belonging to the Aorangi Club. After many interesting and closely contested games tho match resulted in a win for Te Arakura by 65 to 33 games. The players who represented Te Arakura were as follow: Mies L. Goro, Miss J. Bennett. J. Gore, R. Sullivan, J. Sorenson, J. Walsh, K. Thomas, C. Chcotliani, A. Thomas and A. Hansen. Mr J. H. Bennett returned to his home at To Arakura this niorping after spending a fortnight’s holiday with relatives at ltaotihi and Ongaruc. Mr E. Melton, of Hamilton, is at present staying with his grandparents, (Mr and Mrs J. Whittle, Cameron’s Lino. Several local residents were exhibitors at I lie Manawatu A. and P. Show last week. Among the prizewinners. Miss L. Nixon succeeded in gaining third place in tho needlework class, Mr D. Johnston was awarded second prize for meadow ensilage, and a v.h.c. certificate wds won by Air A. J. Baxter in the bacon class. The local Women’s Institute bad two entries also in the Show, and although they wore only successful in gaining a third place in the home and produce section, it was most encouraging to those stewards who worked hard to help to make a success of tho show. Tho committee and stewards wish to extend their thanks to Messrs D. Whisker, J. J. Hume, A. J. Baxter, W. E. Thomas and P. Hanson for their very valuable assistance in connection with conveying the goods, etc., and helping the ladies with the erecting of their stalls.
