BRITAIN’S STRONGEST MAN.

CONTEST AVON IN LONDON. Bonalcl AValker, a 24-year-old Yorkshireman, was recently acclaimed the strongest’ man in Britain. Four years ago AValker was a carter near AAakeficld Yorkshire. One day his horse collapsed. He dragged it half a mile to the nearest village. Recently, he met II weight-liftcis in an international contest between Britain and America in London. The contestants included a commercial traveller, a AVelsli miner, and a 19-year-old Yorkshire farmer. “This is the first contest to find Britain’s strongest man that has been held for 20 years,” said Air AV J. Lowrv, secretary of the British Amateur " AVeight Lifters’ Association. “There are 20,000 weight-lifters in this country, some of them women. Ronald AValker does not have to train on any special diet. He eats and drinks the same as ordinary, people, only about twice as much.” At the end of a gruelling five-lio u trial Ronald AValker gained the title.
