RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, March 12. The Marton Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr F. Purnell) presiding. The following motion was passed as the result of the receipt of a letter from the Christchurch City Council: That this council entirely supports the protest made by the Christchurch City Council against the unjust legislation being enacted bv the present Government, in placing liability for rates on properties morb gaged to the proposed Mortgage Corporation in the same position as liability of the Crown for such rates. This council further considers that the action of the Government in this matter is quite unconscionable.
