HELP FOR STUDENTS.
MR G. SHIRTCLIFFE’S GIFT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 12. Lord Blcdisloe announced at the State luncheon, at the request of the donor, Mr George Shirt-clitfe, the establishment of a deed of trust executed on Friday of a feilowship, a research scholarship, and a bursary to bo awarded annually to University graduates in science, art, commerce, agriculture, or law resident in the Dominion. The purpose is to enable students of outstanding ability and character to continue their studies, who would otherwise through lack of means be unable to do so. The fellowship will he of the value ot £250, tenable for two years, and available to graduates holding a master degree, and is intended to enable the holder to pursue in the British Empire so mo definite research or advanced study. , , . The object of Ahe research scholarship, which will be of the value of £IOO. and tenable for one year, is to permit the holder, holding a like degree, to pursue research in the Dominion, and the bursary, of the value of £75, will he open to candidates holding’a bachelor's degree to enable them to°proceed to the Master’s degree in New Zealand.
