OBITUARY.
MR WALTER EDLIN. The death of Mr Walter Edlin at the Palmerston North Hospital on Saturday, as announced in the “Standard” yesterday, broke g. link with the early days. Mr Edlin was 74 years of age. Born at Kaiapoi in 1860, he was a resident for some • years 'of Woodend, a small town sixteen . miles north of Christchurch. At an early age he became interested in the flax industry. He was an exceptionally skilled worker as shown by the fact that for thirty years he was emploved at the mills of Mr Charles Chinney, one of the first firms to commence operations in New Zealand. In 1906, Mr Edlin removed to Foxton, following the same industry there, and nine years ago he took up his residence in Levin. His quiet and kindly disposition endeared him to all with whom he came in contact and ho leaves many friends throughout the district.
Besides four brothers and one sister, Mr Edlin is survived by bis wife, four daughters, Mesdames A. Tollinson (Hastings), T. Weir (Levin), C. Libline (Rangitaua) and Miss' A. Edlin, three sons, Messrs F. Edlin (Levin), W. Edlin (Foxton) and J. Edlin (Ta.neatua) and one step son, Mr A. Stephenson (Wellington).
