The copper trail held by the local committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals last week resulted in £5 being collected. Mrs Morpliy’s dog was responsible for the collection of os per medium of a box on its back.
Air H. 6. Mellsop, president of the Auckland provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union, will deliver an address on the Mortgage Corporation Bill at the Drill Hall, Bedding, to-night. Amateur athletics have of late taken a new lease of life in Feilding and under the control of the present committee of the Feilding Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club have been meeting with support from both the public and athletes, which is very gratifying to the committee. Several members of the local club will be competing at the championship meeting on AVednesday. Preparations for the next local meeting are well in hand and the committee is of the opinion that the large number of
entries and enquiries that are being received from distant athletic centres indicate the success of the venture Local support has also been very good and the committee feels that the lean years the club has been through are well on the way to being thrown off, and the club again made one of the leading circle in New Zealand athletics. AYhat must be exceptionally heavy lambs even for such a district for fat lambs as Feilding is recognised to be were drafted from flic flock of Miss A. Merritt, Mt. Biggs, last week, two of this season’s lambs turning the scale at 841bs. -each.
Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday over 2000 people visit-ed the display of asters at Mr D. Young’s residence, Kiwitca. The visitors were representative of all parts of New Zealand, while some visitors to the country from abroad also seized the opportunity to view the well-known display of blooms. Afternoon tea served by the AVomen’s Division of tlio Farmers’ Union proved very poimlar.
