RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, Alarch 1. The Rangitikei County Council met to-day, Cr. K. AV. Dalrymple presiding. The council agreed to the Commissioner of Transport declaring the Onepuhi Road a third-class highway. The financial statement showed that the debit balance after the last meeting was £ll,Bll, 13s 7d, this being reduced to-day to £6882 7s Id. Receipts during the month totalled £14,184 15s 2d, which included rates £4998 17s sd, subsidy on rates £4262 4s 3d, main highway subsidies £2698 18s 9d, sale of Kakariki metal £523 19s lOd. Payments totalled £21,067 2s 3d, including Turakina-Bulls Road £2726 15s 3d, hospital levy £2064 14s 2d, and salaries and wages £1895 13s 2d. Yesterday afternoon, Airs J. Johnston, Station Road, gave a party in honour of Aliss Mary Alclvor, who is t-o be married shortly.
